soooo....

Turns out our court date for tomorrow has been canceled. It was nothing personal about our case...a lot of cases were canceled.

The day before your court date, MOWA (Ministry of Woman's Affairs) has to file an opinion on your case. The MOWA office did not open today so they weren't able to write opinions on all the cases due for court tomorrow.... therefore all the cases scheduled for tomorrow have now been canceled and must be rescheduled.

Hopefully before the Ethiopian courts close on Aug 21st for the rainy season.

Hopefully. Hopefully. Hopefully.

Yes, we're pretty crushed (thanks for asking). But, we love our agency and we know they are working hard on our behalf. And we have faith that the Ethiopian Government and MOWA are working hard on the behalf of the children. So--with those two things in mind, we know it will all be ok. In the end the twins will be home with us and all will be well. I believe that. I do. Sure, I believe it in a slightly crushed-need-to-lay-down-and-watch-Gilmore Girl-reruns-all-day kinda way right now, but I'll be back up on Hope Mountain tomorrow.

Stay tuned...xoxo-Kat

  1. Kat-
I'm so sorry. I randomly called my caseworker and at the end of the conversation she told me the news. I felt crushed. I have been thinking about you so much lately and am just so sad that tomorrow will not be the day.
I know they will do everything they can to make it happen as soon as possible. Not that it will ever feel like soon enough.
I'm sending you lots of love today. I'm making a plea (thanks Julie) for everything to come together soon.

  2. Ugh, I was so crushed to read this. One, because we were just there with you two weeks ago. Two, because I don't live closer to bring you tissues, chocolate, and girlie spa things like a friend did for me. I'm thinking of you and praying you get another court date quickly!!!

  14. Oh girl. Well, Hope Mountain is no joke. It's so high and the valley is deep. Not for the faint of heart, but you know that. I hope the TV marathon idea works out and you are back up there tomorrow. You are right, it will all work out. Here's my extra hug that I keep in my pocket.

  19. I know it's only one person's experience, but we were in the same place as you last year - coming up against rainy season and courts closing, had a court date that didn't go because our daughter's birth mother didn't show up, and we made it. The day before the closures everything fell into place - there's hope, hang in there!
